Term 4 – Newsletter 3

Dear Parents

Many thanks for attending the Parent/Teacher meetings last week and for all the positive feedback we received.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to move photo day to this Wednesday, 25th October. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform on Wednesday.

EXAMS, Grade 6 – 9
Exams for Grade 6 – 9 pupils will take place from Wednesday 15th November to Friday 24th November. Pupils in Grades 6 – 9 will leave school at 13h15 during exams in order to give them time to study quietly at home.

Pupils in Grades 1 – 6 will follow their normal timetables until Friday 24th November. From Monday 27th November until Tuesday 5th December, school will close at 13h00 for all pupils.

Please ensure that lift-providers are aware of the change in closing times at the end of term.

School attendance is compulsory until 5th December.

Once exams are over, our pupils will participate in community service. The following outings have been arranged:
Monday 27th November, 09h00 – 12h00 – Grade 5 – 9 pupils will visit the Tygerburg Nature Reserve

These outing will be followed by Prize Giving practice and pupils will leave campus at 13h00.

We will be taking gifts and donations on our community service outings, so would like parents to help by donating the following items:

For Panorama Palms: small gifts of toiletries/chocolates; books and magazines.
For AACL – pet related items such as dog/cat food, toys, blankets.
For Boucher House: good used clothes/toys/books/puzzles/games.

We would also like to invite parents to accompany us on these outings and to provide transport for our pupils.
PRIZE GIVING & ART EXHIBITION, 19h00, Tuesday 5th December, St Mark’s Church, Edgemead
Our academic year will end with our annual Prize Giving to be held at St Mark’s Church, Edgemead at 19h00. Attendance for pupils is compulsory and reports will be handed out after the ceremony.

Our pupils’ artworks will be on display and you will be able to “purchase” your child’s art for a donation (minimum R50), which you may place in an envelope and hand in to the school prior to the exhibition.

Our Parent Committee has pledged their support of our playground upgrade and will be informing you of their plans in due course.

Please consider linking our school to your Woolworth’s card and encouraging extended family and friends to do so too.

Pupils who are returning to our school in 2018 have received their stationery and textbook lists, along with a Walton’s catalogue. If your child has not brought these items home and he/she is returning to our school in the new year, please let me know.

Textbooks for Grade 4 – 9 pupils can be purchased second hand from the group exiting that grade, but please make arrangements to purchase these book as soon as possible. Should you be purchasing new textbooks for your child, please ensure that you get your order in as soon as possible and do not leave it till the new year, as there are always shortages once January comes.

I have attached stationery lists, textbook lists and fees for 2018.
