Term 4 – Newsletter 5

Dear Parents

We are exactly one month from break-up day, so should be fastening our seat-belts for a smooth descent to the end of the academic year.

Photo order envelopes have been stapled in your children’s homework books. The deadline for the return of the orders is 20th November.

If you missed last week’s deadline, but would like to hand in your stationery orders, please do so by Wednesday.

The mobile bookshop will be visiting our school between 13h00 and 15h00 tomorrow. These times coincide with school closing times in order to give you the opportunity to have a look at the books when you collect your child after school. I would like to encourage parents to support the bookshop as proceeds go to charity.

Our Grade 4 – 6 pupils will be visiting Panorama Palms to sing Christmas Carols and have tea with the residents. Please support this outing by sending a small gift, possibly a pretty bar of soap or some chocolate that we can use to fill Christmas crackers, even if your child will not be participating in the outing.

Parents may also assist with pet-related products and good used clothes, books and toys for Boucher House.

We’ll need assistance from parents with transport to and from the Community Service Outings and parents are welcome to participate with their children. Please let Ms van Zyl know if you’re able to assist with transport to any of the following:
Monday 27th November, 08h45 – Tygerberg Nature Reserve (return at 12h00)
Monday 4th December, 09h45 – Panorama Palms (return at about 11h30) and AACL

The Art Exhibition will be held at St Mark’s Church, Edgemead on 5th December from 18h00. Parents who have donated a minimum of R50 for their children’s art will be able to collect the art after the Prize Giving. Please place your donation in an envelope, clearly marked with your child’s name and “Art Exhibition” and send to school.

PRIZE GIVING, 5th December, 19h00, St Mark’s Church, Edgemead
Prize Giving is our “elegant” occasion of the year, where our pupils dress up smartly: pretty dressed for the girls and collar & tie for the boys.
Each family is requested to provide one plate of savoury and one plate of sweet eats for this occasion.

A new edition of our prospectus is out. Thanks to Cindy de Swardt who is responsible for the new photos appearing in the prospectus. I have attached a copy for your perusal.

A reminder to make contact with an outgoing pupil in your child’s next grade should you wish to purchase second-hand textbooks.

15 – 24 November, Grades 6 – 9 only: school closes at 13h15
27 November – 5 December: School closes at 13h00 for all pupils

Pupils will be attending Prize Giving on 5th December and so do not need to attend school on 6th December.
