A heartfelt thank you to all who attended our parent/teacher meetings last week and for all your positive comments. We are so proud of the great progress our pupils are making with the help and support of their skilled and caring teachers. We love to see our pupils blossoming in this small, nurturing environment.
If you were not able to attend the meetings last week, please get in touch with your child’s teacher to arrange for an alternative date.
A busy term lies ahead, so please note the following:
SILLY SLIPPER DAY, 8th August
Pupils may wear their slippers to school next Wednesday 8th August, for a donation of R10 towards our grass fund.
PUBLIC HOLIDAY, 9th & 10th August
School will be closed on 9th & 10th August for Women’s Day and a school holiday. We wish all women associated with our school a happy day of rest.
We are asking all parents to support our raffle. Two hampers are up for grabs, each containing a Gilbert rugby ball signed by Eben Etzebeth, a bottle of wine and chocolate. Tickets are R20. Pupils have been issued with raffle sheets. Closing day for entries is Thursday 30th August and the winners will be announced on Monday 3rd August.
SPRING HAT DAY, 31st August
Pupils are invited to enter our Spring Hat competition by paying R15 and decorating a hat to celebrate spring. Prizes will be awarded to the most beautiful spring hats.
SPEECH & DRAMA EVENING, Thursday 27th September, van der Spuy House, 19h00
We are thrilled and excited to announce that we will be holding our first “theatre under the stars” as we present our Speech & Drama Evening on our beautiful new playground at 19h00 on 26th & 27th September.
Tickets are on sale for R30 each, which includes a cup of tea/coffee & eats.
Please return your reply slip regarding assistance with props, backdrops and catering as soon as possible.
With the new venue, we will be able to extend our Speech & Drama to two evenings, so will open our “theatre” on 26th for the first production of this year’s play. When you order your tickets, please endorse the tickets with the evening you would prefer to come and watch. If you have already sent in your ticket money, please let your child’s teacher know which night will suit you best.
HELP WITH TRANSPORT
A bench has been donated to our school playground, but we need help to get it to our campus. If anyone is able to assist, please let me know.
Please observe our protocol when dropping off/collecting your children:
Grade 1 – 3/van der Spuy House:
Enter van der Spuy from Visagie and turn left into Utrecht to join traffic flow or continue on with van der Spuy.
Grade 4 – 9/Utrecht House:
Enter Utrecht from van der Spuy and stay with traffic flow.
Pick-up times can be a bit chaotic, but using the above protocol does help to keep everyone moving in the same direction. Please ensure that lift-providers are aware of our traffic rules.
If you are visiting the school and need to park, please observe the above, so that you park with traffic flow on the same side of the road as the school.
“One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, merciful, generous or honest.” – Maya Angelou
